Cheese

Experts will tell you that cheese and white wine are a good match and that actually red wine can be tricky when matching it with cheese. Sparkling wine will go very well with cheese dishes too.
Goats Cheese and Sauvignon Blanc are a heavenly partnership. Also suits dessert wines.
Parmesan: Semi sweet white or bubbly
Soft Cheeses like Camembert, Brie and Chaume: Light fruity reds – Merlot, Pinot Noir or Bordeaux blends for riper cheeses.
Hard Cheeses like Cheddar, Gouda, Emmenthal and Gruyere: Buttery medium bodied whites like Chardonnay or some Chenin Blancs and Semillons. When mature then Shiraz.
Stilton, Gorgonzola or Dolcelatte: Port, preferably Tawny port
Roquefort: White dessert wine
