Mulderbosch

Mulderbosch Watch a video about Mulderbosch

First founded in 1989 with their first vintage in 1994, Mulderbosch Vineyards is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s premier wine producers. In 2011, the winery was sold to Terroir Capital, a California-based investment company, with renowned wine investor Charles Banks at the helm. It was a long desired dream of Banks to invest in the legendary Cape Winelands. He set about rebuilding the management and winemaking teams, bringing in top winemaker Adam Mason, who he had met in the Napa Valley where Mason had worked a stint with the highly esteemed Napa winemaker Andy Erickson.

Banks took Mulderbosch to the next level, by achieving remarkable improvements in both the cellar and vineyards, with a strong emphasis on upgrading the vineyard management.

Even though the wine guide author John Platter famously heralded the Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc as ”South Africa’s most celebrated Sauvignon”, the entire portfolio at Mulderbosch has consistently produced extraordinary, high-quality wines of distinction. The Mulderbosch offerings include a lightly wooded and barrel fermented Chardonnay, a Chenin Blanc from predominantly old bush vines, a decadent Noble Late Harvest created from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé and a delicious Faithful Hound Bordeaux-style blend. As a highly regarded member of the greater Terroir Selections portfolio, Andy Erickson continues to provide critical guidance to the winemaking and blending decisions at Mulderbosch, visiting the winery each year during the harvesting and blending periods.

Since its first vintage, Mulderbosch has continued to create wines of excellence, innovation and elegance. While their range of wines has increased, they are committed to producing wines that continue to push the boundaries of winemaking and viticulture and proudly represent the Mulderbosch seal of approval.
