A Calderata is the traditional Catalan upright earthenware pot used for the preparation of deep, flavourful dishes. This wine is a perfect match for these, as well as the rustic flavours of Cape Mediterranean cooking.
Fresh fig notes accompanied by bright citrus aromas on the nose. Grapefruit and subtle guava fill the palate and linger on the finish. The acidity gives good length and the mouthfeel is full, rich and textured.
2011 was an exceptional vintage for red wines; the wines have excellent concentration and tannin structure. The 2011 expresses the true character of the Swartland terroir and the flavours are spicy and rich yet supple. It is a layered example of complex, warmer climate Shiraz. Anthony de Jager
